It would be very difficult, expensive and time consuming to produce
comprehensive and useful documentation on timeline.
I have been working with Timeline for a year now.
Timeline is much more complicated than it first appears. There are so
many technologies involved. It has dozens of moving parts. It is
difficult to debug and if you misplace a comma or a bracket, your can
lose hours of effort without a clue as to what went wrong. Its like an
all or nothing thing, unlike procedural programming. You can work for
hours on a project and all of a sudden come up with a blank timeline,
whi
ch presents no evidence of a solution. And then it feels like you
have to start all over again, feeling like you haven't learned anything.
Frustrating.
My progress is taking much longer than I had expected. But I am not
going to give up, because its potential is just so great, especially if
you can get it to work interactively with databases.
You are not alone, and I hope you can take some comfort from this.

I have spent much time in figuring out how to use timeline and
exhibit. The results are very disappointing. That is because many
links and documentations are outdated. If we really want to have a
semantic web, those pages and tutorials should be updated or go
first. It is unprofessional and unfair to make learning so confusing
and so difficult.

Hello,
I have not heard from anyone yet. Can someone help me on this problem?
I read the related messages sent to the list and tried by replacing
http://static.simile.mit.edu/timeline/api-2.3.0/timeline-api.js?bundle=true
with
http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/api/timeline-api.js_?bundle=true_ and
http://api.simile-widgets.org/timeline/2.3.1/timeline-api.js_?bundle=true_
None of the two work. I am still ge
tting the same error.
But when I run the local_examples.html, it works fine. The error
happens when I refresh the screen each time.

Failed to derive URL prefix for Timeline API code files.
