I am trying to use Timeline to show genealogy data, with XML
containing (for example) ... start="Nov 24 1860" ...
When I click the event, the bubble shows this date as "Friday 23 Nov
1860 11:00:00 GMT". Clearly Timeline has interpreted all of these
dates as GMT, added a time component of 00:00:00, and then reflected
this back to me in my local time, New Zealand Time, which is 13 hours
ahead of GMT.
How do I get this to show in the bubble as simply "24 Nov 1860"? My
data contains dates in the subject's local time - the person could
have been born in NZ, England, anywhere.
If I add
timeZone: 13,
this solves the problem for me and New Zealand users, but will this
cause problems for site users in America and Europe? Besides, it
gives a spurious air of precision and may be incorrect: the bubble now
tells me that the subject was born "Sat, 24 Nov 1860 00:00:00 GMT",
whereas it should simply say "Sat, 24 Nov 1860"
If the best that I can do is to continue using timeZone, is there a
way of setting it to the user's current time so that it works OK for
people in any time zone?
Thank you for your help,
Robert
