I've got SIMS running under MacOS 8.6 on a Workgroup Server 6150/66 (same
processor as your Performa, I believe). Never a worry with it. In addition to
SIMS, it's got AutoShare, TB2, KIU, and Okey Dokey Pro. Until about three
months ago, it also had Rumpus (FTP) and Summary Pro running on it. This
machine, w/ OS 8.6, has proved to be quite stable -- I can't remember the last
time it crashed. Anyway, if you're going to stay with OS 8.x you should
probably opt for 8.6 over 8.5, since it's got a better version of OT, as well
as a few other things. My general feeling is the people find it the more
stable of the two. I haven't run a box of that vintage with OS 9.x, but I
can't think of any reason why either 9.04 or 9.1 wouldn't work as well (except
that they tend to use more memory for comparable configurations).
