One additional step if you're concerned about 'jeopardizing settings and
accounts' (not that it's really that much of a concern). Before running 1.8b8,
simply make a Finder-copy back-up of the SIMS folder in your System Folder
(that's where the accounts and settings files live). And you might want to
keep a back-up copy of 1.7 just in case. The 'just in case' is highly
unlikely, as 1.8b8 is very stable, but if you want the peace of mind, you're
covered.
