I can confirm that it doesn't work either with a 'New' port, or by duplicating your current port and changing the IP. This is possibly a hardware limitation though, I could only try it with the built-in Ethernet on my Beige G3. It might be dependant on a chipset that allows multi-homing. If anyone has a good quality 3rd party card and cares to try this I'd like to hear their results too.
