I.e. Mark won't take the blame if someone else happens to use the
script in a legally unwise fashion. Which is very smart for Mark,
since it is very possible to run afoul of privacy laws in some
countries, and even in the US it is possible to do so with e-mail
systems, as they are one of the few environments where there ARE
privacy laws in the US.

Before attempting to capture all outgoing mail thru anything that
hooks into a mail server, make sure that you discuss it with a lawyer
who knows about the ECPA or whatever laws apply in your country AND
make sure the lawyer is aware that:

1. Capturing mail as it passes through the mail server is incomplete,
since the people you are trying to watch may use other means to send
mail, such as SMTP to external servers or webmail. If this is
intended to monitor employee use of the net, it is a technically
incomplete monitor unless you take other steps.

2. Email archives have been found to be discoverable and admissible
in lawsuits, and in some cases courts have applied a presumption that
the archiving entity is aware of the content of all messages. This is
perilous. If you have a user who is doing something tortious via
email, do you want a court assuming that you knew about it?

3. Using this method may not even catch everything that travels
through the server, since SIMS won't be pausing for some
folder-attached script to complete. This may have interesting legal
effects.
