Humm... ok... I'll keep that in mind for the next time. 

My ISP managed to restore the connection before I found a way around 
it... although, I had been thinking (and just didn't get a chance to do 
it), that if I put a Hosts file in my TCP/IP control panel, I could fool 
SIMS into using the temp IP. Since it looked like it was doing a DNS 
lookup each time it tried to resend an email, the Hosts file would 
intercept that lookup, and tell it to use my temp IP, rather than the 
original IP.

But, as luck would have it... by the time I drove to the location of my 
backup server to add the hosts file, my ISP managed to restore my 
connection.
