Talk about heavy handed blocking. A few years ago, one of my users (I hosted his personal website as well as email for him), had a jokes list in his email client.
He sent a joke out to his list (using the from address from his usa.net acocunt, and sent it formhis work server, not my server) and one of the recipients had just recently moved and had not told everyone his new email address. The address the joke was sent to was some sort of public free internet access organization in Californina. Within hours after he sent this list out. I got an email accusing me of harbouring spammers and was informed that all of my servers were no blacklisted with this organization. And sure enough, I could not email the contact people for that domain as all of my email was returned. So I emailed this idiot that blacklisted me and asked him what possible reason he had to blacklist my servers as the email in question was: 1 - simply a text based, non adult joke 2 - didn't even come from my servers 3 - was sent to a personal friend of the sender (and I included the users full name and the email address it was sent to) I also asked why he was reading his users private emails. His reply was that it was obviously a spam email becuase the server the email was sent from was in Germany and the signature of the email inlcuded his personal website address which was registered to a US address. Therefore it was spam. He also claimed that there never had been such an account on their servers - to which I offered to send him proof of previous emails between the parties showing headers to prove it was sent from his servers. This went on for a couple of weeks and the asshole still refused to remove the block. We ended up having to track down the recipient and have him file a complaint to get the block removed. All becuase some idiot decided the he knew what spam was. He also never even went to the website in the signature to see that it was only a personal website that wasn't selling anything and refused to believe that the email was sent from the ibm server in Germany becuase thatis where this guy lives! We even gave him this guys work email to prove (a german ibm address). This is the worst I have ever seen for blacklisting someone. I should have later followed up with the people that actually ran the organization, but as I discovered they used mostly volunteers I figured it would be a lost cause.
