<sarcasm> It's always a problem when someone wants to pay you money for a product. Just think how bad it'd be if they wanted to upgrade to the 1,000 client licence! Oh the humanity!! It probably takes a person with a 4 year degree with several technology certifications (MCSE, CCIE, A+) to sit at a phone and fax machine, and process licence numbers, send invoices, and process credit card numbers, so I could see why this would make them nervous. Just the labor costs alone would be mind numbing. Just think of all the money they'd save if they just gave their products away. </sarcasm> www.4d.com. They do the same thing with their servers, binding the licence keys to machines, and then binding expansion keys to licence keys. They have a database engine sitting on the web (probably written in 4d) doing all the foot work. When you call their customer service number, they will handle upgrades over the phone though, and it only takes a few minutes. Since they've already spent the effort programming the product, I would guess spending a few minutes of a customer service rep's time to sell a $799 upgrade licence key isn't a big deal for them. I can see the problem where it's not worth their time to give support for a product that sells for under $499 though. I can't imagine that the licensing administration overhead would be anywhere nearly as costly as support overhead for a product as complex as a powerful feature laden email server. I'm sure that's where the real costs are. I'm making it my goal to educate myself on CGP enough that all I'll have to do is give Stalker my money, and use their product. I guess I think that not burdening them for support needs is the least I can do for using SIMS all this time. -Jerry ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
