A 5xx response code is a permanent failure, which essentially tells the
sending MTA (SIMS) that it shouldn't bother to try again. It looks like
mac.com has a policy to not accept mail from senders with non-existent
(presumably bogus) domains. If that's the case, then a permanent failure is
appropriate. If the policy is unlikely to change, any messages with the
same sender are more than likely to continue to be rejected.
As to why mac.com thinks that frontiernet.net doesn't exist, I can't say.
It resolves just fine from here:
