We are running the latest beta development version of SIMS and I keep seeing this problem every few days to once every couple weeks. It will start refusing connections with log entries that look like this:

18:02:36 4 SMTP(tcp) Connection request from [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:53165],seq=2866, 1/2
18:02:36 1 SMTP too many (250) lines already opened
18:02:36 1 SMTP(tcp) Rejecting Connection from [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:53165], seq=2866. 1/2

I had already upped the connections to 250 hoping that would solve the problem but has not.

It looks like SIMS is keeping old connections open and not timing them old quick enough if the remote MTA fails to send the quit command.

From what else I just found in the log it looks like SIMS is keeping the old unclosed (QUIT) connections open for about an hour. This is causing our server to go deaf to incoming connections because all the connections are kept open and unavailable.

This looks like a bug. I can send log files if needed.

Please let me know if/when this can be fixed.

thanks,
