I am not clicking around or holding down menus, dont know why it happens. The OS is 9.0.4, this machine is running SIMS several years now, last restart was a few month ago.

You don't mention you MacOS version, but at least under 8.x, other processes may be blocked while you click-and-hold on a menu item.
