My Liststar server is getting hit by spammers How do I get [EMAIL PROTECTED] (SIMS)= [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Liststar) The Liststar machine has to think of itself as lists.serversmiths.com I run my own DNS so I can set anything up I want. Any help or tips are very greatly appreciated.
1) Point lists.serversmiths.com to the SIMS machine.
2) create router entries (or accounts) that'll forward any list mail from [EMAIL PROTECTED] to joeslist@(liststarIP) (you could also create a new DNS entry called "liststar" and point it to that IP if it'll may you feel warmer and fuzzier to have a name on it).
3) Change your Liststar rules so that it's not checking for a full address match, or it'll bounce everything. Ie, incoming mail is now addressed to joeslist@(liststarIP), and the official list address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Some recent templates have a rule that checks to make sure the incoming mail address matches the address listed on the listserv, but I've never had any problem removing that restriction.
I did it like that for a while and it worked fine, but during a recent ISP change I got lazy and pointed it back to the Liststar machine. And I had to wade through all the list junk whenever I went into the logs or queue, which was mildly annoying. I may put it back again...
