I'm having a few problems with my backup mail server setup. 1: It isn't deleting mail after sending it. All mail claims to be sent ok (at least via random spot checking the status), but its all just piling up. I found about 2000 messages in there dating back to last July.
2: Its sending mail VERY slowly. I have outbound TCP channels set to 25 (144k DSL line, running on a PM 7100 with IPNR and VNC on the same machine). Its in the range of one every two minutes. This might be because of failed attempts and rescheduling to try again (which makes sense, but as long as I am asking questions, I figured I would mention it) 3: I'm not sure I have the router setup correctly, as I am getting bounces on some of the relayed mail. Right now my router says: mythtech.net = mail.mythtech.net.smtp domain2.com = mail.mythtech.net.smtp Domain2.com is also hosted on my primary server "mail.mythtech.net". The MX records for Domain2 are set to send mail to mail.mythtech.net. Email works fine when it goes directly to my primary server, but when it is relayed via my backup mail server it gets bounce notices complaining there is no such user. Is the backup mail server altering the envelope so the email is failing thru the primary router (which has an entry "*@domain2.com = d2-*") 4: I am seeing a HUGE amount of email hitting my backup mail server. Averaging about a dozen messages a day. Is this just because my primary ISP really sucks and has that much down time (I hadn't noticed it to be THAT bad, but my primary ISP does suck and is offline a lot). Or do I have something else going wrong. My MX records are set so my primary server is "Hi" and my backup server is "Low" (using Register.com's nice little web interface). Do I maybe need to turn up the number of receiving channels on my primary server? If all channels are in use will it fall over to the backup server? TIA for any help, hints, tips or otherwise people can share. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
