When that feature is enabled, SIMS will try to verify return-paths for all
messages sent through it, whether they're 'incoming' from the internet or
from users on the local LAN. From SIMS' perspective, they're all the same.
I'd guess that if it's having trouble doing return-path look-ups for local
senders but not for incoming messages, the DNS set-up for 'local' domains
is wonky.

The DNS, including MX, for optionsbydesign.com. looks alright from here;
everything resolves. Combined with your first problem, though, it looks
like there's something funky with the DNS on your LAN

If 'optionsbydesign.com' is not the primary domain name set in SIMS'
General settings, then it is not 'itself'. Just a guess, but depending on
your router set-up, SIMS might need to do MX look-ups when attempting to
deliver messages to optionsbydesign.com addresses (i.e. if the router
doesn't route optionsbydesign.com to the primary domain name).

All of the errors described above imply that the SIMS machine is having
some sort of trouble with DNS look-ups. I'd be surprised if a simple
restart clears it up. The first thing I'd do is double check that the
proper name server(s) are entered in the machine's TCP/IP control panel and
that all network connections and settings are good. Can other applications
besides SIMS on the same machine do DNS look-ups? Can the name server that
SIMS is using resolve the names that SIMS is having problems with?

It should be whatever the machine's canonical host name is in DNS (i.e., a
name for which there are both A and PTR records).
