I'm on a DHCP connection, so a lot of mail servers treat me as a

Is there any way to send mail from SIMS to a server that requires
SMTP authentication?

If SIMS can't do it - there is at least a work-around.

Get the program "Baton Mail" and configure SIMS to send through it.
Baton Mail adds authentification of any sort to any mail application.
It was intended for use with mail clients which are not capable doing
this, but as I understand how it works, it would also work with SIMS.
You'd just route your messages from SIMS to Baton Mail, and Baton
Mail takes care of sending it to your ISP.
