Heh. I have had no problems with courier. Sam is the author, and he tries to be standards compliant. Perhaps they are his interpretations of the standards... Courier works with every MTA and MUA I have come across. I had to make some adjustments to make it LESS standards compliant so it would accept mail from broken MTAs. But you have to do this with many software packages. There are standards and then there is Microsoft.... > > Also, courier uses the maildir format, which spews, in my case, thens > of thousands of indivdual files onto my hard-drive. Yes, it can work > with mbox files as well, but it really wants maildir. > Maildir is a *far* superior format. I will never go back to mbox. It gets easily corrupted, has *absolutely no official standard* format, and is slow. If you are building a server from the ground up I would *highly* suggest using Maildir now, while it is still easy to make this decision. Otherwise you will most likely regret it later. I know I did when I started with mbox. I finally got switched over... Now it is SOOO easy when a client say "Can't you just delete that 100Mb file I received?" I can simply cd to their directory and delete it. All done. No fuss, no pop3 clients, or imap clients required. Just ssh into the server and do it. Have fun trying THAT with mbox! -- Joe Laffey | Want to convert subnet masks between different LAFFEY Computer Imaging | notations, or figure the number of IPs in a block?
