My wife just asked me if this was going to kill backup MX servers, because all .com and .net domains will resolve. While this won't be a problem for us, since we're a .org, I couldn't answer one way or the other.
So, if a MX points a domain that resolves, but (hopefully!) doesn't respond to SMTP queries, do MTAs correctly fall back to the next higher MX record?
Surely if a domain doesn't exist, it won't HAVE an MX record or backup. Even if it did it would be pointing to non-existent servers. Unless VeriSign is very stupid or malicious ...
