Hi all, We are a small hosting firm that has been using SIMS for a VERY long time. Thank you Stalker for this great app!
Because we needed virus protection, we purchased the Webshield E250 appliance form McAfee/NAI, but still use SIMS as the POP and SMTP server where the E250 forwards all scanned mail to. Our experience with the E250 has been pure HELL. We have to call the support service weekly, and we find bugs on a monthly basis. We'll not bother you with the details. We are now looking for an alternative. I would rather spend money on a new mailserver with integrated virus scanning that works... We have about 170 mailboxes. Also, an integrated webmail would be nice, we now use WebMailPro 2.0 from 4D, which is OK, but not super... We have a license for 4D Mail, but since there are a lot of people having problems with it, I don't dare switching to it.... We were looking at CGP on OSX, but it seems the only anti-virus solution for it is.... McAfee, and its prices are very high. The licensing fee for the McAfee scanning plugin is strange: you have to pay for messages per hour. But what if there is a virus outbreak? Last month we had over 20.000 virus e-mails in one week... Normally I think 200 messages should be enough for us, if there is no virus outbreak. Anyone have any alternatives to the McAfee AV solution, without having to hack around too much, I have only basic Unix skills...
