Sounds more like a crippled user than a crippled system. I just set
the default color in my ~/.Xdefaults file.
$ cat ~/.Xdefaults
XTerm*background: black
XTerm*foreground: green
If this were the only way, then that's exactly why Linux is not yet
ready for the general public to use. (Remember 95% of the public are
not computer techies).
In FireFox,
On Kaj's page, a simple 'Edit' then 'Select All' makes it more readable.
Or, you can try 'View' then select 'Page Style' 'No Style'
(This sometimes screws up the page formatting on some sites though).
Or, under Fonts & Colors, select 'Use System Colors'
