They are much much too complex, both in terms of software and hardware.
It has become nearly impossible to find a bug-free anything. See recent
patches to the Core2-duo microcode distributed through recent Windows
Update patches. You will never see such patches for ARM based
processors. They are simple enough that they will never have such bugs.

Todays hardware and software systems are not merely burdened by legacy
design decisions but actively surpress any possible evolutionary path
towards a more modern system. If you want a rather heartbreaking example
of this, download the source code to Minix 3 and study the file
process.c. -- The decision to support the Unix paradigm on this modern
microkernel OS has resulted in a tragically crippled system.

eg, I just realized that although I had intended to set both my monitors
to the same resolution, this one somehow ended up being 1024x768 while
the other is at least 1280x1024... Possibly even 1600x1280... (which I
consider damaging to my hardware..)

Unix is an awful OS .

Why do people keep making excuses for it?
