FYI, I've found some more encoding names in this -

http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~hgs/rtp/drafts/draft-ietf-avt-profile-new-09.txt

However, it does not contain the encoding names mentioned below.

How is one supposed to become aware of these drafts anyway? Is there any
central list or notification procedure? The IETF drafts search engine found
nothing for 'G.729', for example.

Thanks, but this does not cover some examples I've seen recently, viz.

      a=rtpmap:96 G.729a/8000/1
      a=rtpmap:97 G.726-16/8000/1
      a=rtpmap:98 G.726-24/8000/1

(from a Cisco IAD I believe)

Is there no choice but to trawl through all the drafts in case they mention
a new encoding name?

Barry

How about RFC1890:
RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control

Please, can anyone point me to an authoritative source for encoding names in
SDP rtpmap attributes?

I've spent many not-so-happy hours digging through the Columbia SIP, IETF
and IANA jungleBSBSBSBSBSBS sites. Life is short and rapidly becoming
shorter.... :)
