Hi,

I have a few questions on the usage of the REGISTER method:

1.      Suppose an outbound proxy is configured for a UA, is it correct to assume that the UA should register with the proxy to be able to originate or receive calls?

2.      If the answer to the above question is yes, then in case the UA does not have any contact address other than the address that it specifies in the To Header field (registrand), then does the UA still need to add this address in the Contact header (RFCbis says: "... bind the address listed in the To field with a SIP server to one [underline is mine] or more URIs ...")?

3.      If the answer to Q2 is no, then the statement "If the request does not contain a Contact header, the registration remains unchanged." does not make sense for first time registration of the UA.

Can someone please clarify?

thanks,
Bharat.
