Subject: RE: [Sip-implementors] Registrations...

Badri,
The 2nd set of Contact(C3, C4) will not override the 1st set(C1, C2). All 4
contacts(C1,C2, C3 and C4) will be added to the AOR . The Contacts are
removed when they either expires or removed explicitly by sending another
REGISTER with Expires: 0.

Preferences among Contact Addresses depends on the q parm value present in
Contact header field.
In RFC-3261, section 10.2.1.2, it says that
"The "q" parameter indicates a relative preference for the particular
Contact header field value compared to other bindings for this
address-of-record."

Ranjit, regarding the preference u have written, is it as per the spec.(can
u pl. specify where it is mentioned) or as per the implementation?

Thanks,
Manoj

Hi Badri

Usually the latest registration will be contacted first if any call comes
for the UA.
Now as per your scenario, UA has 2 sets of contacts of which C3&C4 is the
latest.

so say UA1 calls UA, then server first contacts C3&C4 and if no response,
then it contacts C1&C2.

Ranjit :-)

Hi:

Consider the following scenario..

A UA regsiters its To addr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with contact address
C1 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> & C2 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

It gets a 200 OK for this registration from the Registrar.

It then sends another Registration for the same To addr with 2 different
contacts
C3 & C4.

Now when the second registration suceeds, what will be the binding state @
the Registrar.?

will it be C1,C2,C3, C4 for the AOR in the To

or will it be C3 , C4..?

will the second set of contacts be added to the first or overwritten..?

thanks in advance..

Thanks,
Badri
