According to the internet draft: draft-ietf-simple-presence-09.txt
(section 8 "Example Message Flow") A UAC need not generate notify messages
as long as a Presence server is co-located with a registrar. Is there a
server which implements this, I mean one which generates notify messages
on a PUAs behalf. This can greatly reduce processing on the client end.
If an XML based format like cpim-pidf is used then I think this
set up is very good since all that a client needs to do is parse a notify
body and interpret a user agent's presence information. The server will
be responsible for actually generating this notify body on the user agent's
behalf. Please let me know if any server implements this setup
