Title: RE: [Sip-implementors] REGISTER expires between INVITE and BYE

Hi,
it depends in which role the SIP server acts. If the server acts as standard UA it sends the BYE when it will need (if the opposite site have not already done it). Becuase BYE is request within dialog it shall pass the SIP Proxy Server without problems.

If the SIP Server acts as proxy server it does not need to care about dialog state.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] REGISTER expires between INVITE and BYE

Hi,

I have a basic question in SIP.

On a SIP server (eg: SIP announcement machine),
supposed a SIP call has been started (INVITE
received), and that the registration expires before
the BYE has been received. Does the server has to send
a BYE from its own? (I guess yes, but is there a
reference to this in RFC3261 because I cannot find
it).

Thank you,
Patrig
