Title: remote or local ringback tone for SIP
Hi Ira Kadin,
This depends upon whether the 180/183 has SDP in it.
If 180/183 contains SDP information and if any of the codecs listed are supported by the GW, it is better to go for the remote ringback tone which will come in RTP format, because sometimes there may be announcement after this response.
If SDP is not present, then the GW can play local ringback tone.

Regards,
Achuth.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] remote or local ringback tone for SIP

Hi All,

My question is: how SIP GW can determinate - weather to play local ringback tone while getting

180/183 provision response or it's a remote ringback tone provided by terminator in RTP stream ?

In H323 GW I analyzed progress Description of Alerting message (if set to 8 - remote ringback

tone).

What can be done for SIP protocol ?

thanks in advance

Ira
