So, just to be more explicit: the case is where the following happens

A ---> B  (INVITE)
A <--- B (TRYING)
A <--- B (RINGING)
A <--- B (OK)
A ---> B (ACK)
A <--> B (RTP)
A ---> B (re-INVITE)
A <--- B (TRYING)
A ---> B (???) Cancel, or Bye?

Hi David,

If you want to do a re-invite for the case where You did not get the final response (2xx) but only provisional response
than you should send "CANCEL" .

Hi All,

What is the correct thing to do on a re-INVITE. If we want to terminate the call but we have not yet received the final 2xx response for the re-INVITE, do we send a BYE or a CANCEL?

I am thinking BYE (since the re-INVITE is within a dialog), but am not
sure.
