Would it be likely for proxies to use a different UDP source port for many of their requests to the same end-point (be it another proxy or calling party or caller)? It seems to be the case that some phones do use different source port for every request (even to the same proxy).
If this is likely, then communication between 2 proxies that uses UDP can use lots of different 5-tuples.... which could be painful for intermediate transparent stateful devices (such as NAT, firewall, etc). I understand this is not likely to be an issue when TCP is used, as there would typically be just 1 or 2 TCP channels opened between 2 proxies... hopefully long-lived.
