Better.. Why? Could you motivate that? [ABN] Am very sorry for delayed response... I agree that Invite Transaction is bulkier than UPDATE request. But if we use UPDATE, there can't any more session timer negotiation for next session interval. I personally feel the Session-Expires value could change from time to time. Hence the session will be terminated if the Min-SE for an intermediate entity changed which is less than earlier negotiated Session-Expires value... Just because the session-expires value does not satisfy the criteria (Min-SE < SE) we should not take down the call... hence I feel the re-invite is better than UPDATE.... UPDATE only affects SDP offer/answer state while reINVITE affects both SIP signaling and SDP offer/answer states. I would prefer sending UPDATE for keep alive as it affects fewer states in the UA. Of course you have to check that the other UA supports it. / Christian Jansson, Hotsip > > > > > Thanks & Regards, > > ----------------------- > > Nataraju A.B. > > ---------------------- > > "Progress has little to do with speed, but much to do with direction" > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of prabhan > Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 2:44 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [Sip-implementors] Keep alive mechanism > > > > > Hello, > > Which of the two is the best method in Practise to implement Keep alive > > mechnaism ? > > > > > Reinvite or Update as describe in Session timer draft > > OR > > Options > > > > > Thanks, > > Prabha N > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Sip-implementors mailing list > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > http://lists.cs.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/sip-implementors > > > > Confidentiality Notice > > > The information contained in this electronic message and any attachments > to this message are intended > for the exclusive use of the addressee(s) and may contain confidential or > privileged information.
