Hello Markus,
Once you have a early dialog and a confirmed dialog .. I think you
should be sending a CANCEL from the UAC side for the early dialog ...
The proxy server will respond back with a 200 OK and clear any pending
client transaction (if any are left ) by canceling them as well.
See section 16.10 in 3261 on how the proxy will handle the CANCEL
request from the UAC on the early dialog.
Regards ,
Sayan

Subject: [Sip-implementors] sending BYEs in early dialogs

Hello everbody,

I have a question about the following phrases (15 Terminating a session,
RFC 3261):

"The caller's UA MAY send a BYE for either confirmed or early dialogs,
and the callee's UA MAY send a BYE on confirmed dialogs, but MUST NOT
send a BYE on early dialogs."

Do I understand it right, that it is allowed to send a BYE for an early
dialog from the UAC side?

Imagine following scenario:

UAS sends an INVITE to a proxy. The proxy forks the INVITE and two
provisional response with different to tags are coming back. One UAS
sends a 200 OK and the proxy cancels successfuly the INVITE request to
the other UAS.

The UAC has now a confirmed dialog and an early dialog. MAY the UAC send
a BYE the the successful canceled UAS? When can the UAC clean up the
early dialog?

Thank you in advance.

Markus

P.S.: Sorry, I forgot the first line. :(
