Vivek. Your explanation talks more about implementation. In my opinion there is still no standard way to create different "kinds" of sessions.
The way that it's been done until now is to use specialized Request URI's for different kinds of messages that are understood by specific UA's. For example, different Media servers require different formats of request URI's to play announcements/create conferences etc. The same applies to IM, Presence , PTT etc and is thus affecting Inter operability. Is there no standardized way to do this? Or am I way off track? INAP CS2 defines some standard SIB's. Why cant we do something like this? I think SIP UA can created multiple dialogs for different users/applications. As applicability of SIP increasing, there will be a possibility where multiple applications within a single end-user device will using SIP functionality simultaneously. My doubt if there is only one instance of SIP UA on the device and all applications are using the same SIP UA then how does UA handles routing of incoming SIP requests to different applications. E.g. co-existence of VoIP/PTT application, IM session, interactive games with in a single device like PDA and all will use INVITE requests to create or receive session. So if there is any incoming INVITE then how does UA find out what is the purpose of this invite or which application should get this INVITE for processing. Let me know if my question is all together wrong. Otherwise can somebody through some light on it? regards, -nins _______________________________________________ Sip-implementors mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cs.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/sip-implementors Confidentiality Notice The information contained in this electronic message and any attachments to this message are intended for the exclusive use of the addressee(s) and may contain confidential or privileged information.
