Hi again,
Imagine the following scenario:
Proxy servers "A" (active) and "B" (standby) are configured as a
cluster and they share a virtual IP address. When a UA "C" establishes
an SCTP association with the virtual IP, in fact it will be
established toward the active server ("A"). If proxy server "A" fails,
proxy server "B" will become active. Even though the virtual IP is
still up, the SCTP stack on the proxy server "B" will not know
anything about the association.
As far as I know, upon receipt of an unexpected INIT for an
association, if new addresses are added to the association, the
endpoint must respond with an ABORT response, where the cause of error
may be set to 'restart of an association with new addresses'. The
error should list the addresses that were added to the restarting
association-- the transport association must be restarted.
Is this the common way of doing so? AFAIU, RFC 5061 (SCTP Dynamic
Address Reconfiguration) is not valid for this scenario.
Many thanks,
