I believe MESSAGE should be treated as Non-Invite request and the same rules
will apply as defined for other methods.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Sip MESSAGE method retransmission clarification

Hi,

I am extending our SIP stack with MESSAGE method. The spec for MESSAGE
method 3428 didnt talk about message retransmission. Shall I interpret
that, SIP MESSAGE is also considered a NON INVITE request? So what ever
the retransmission mechanism defined in 3261 could also be applicable to
the MESSAGE method extension. This retransmission especially require for
the applications like where the application needs to be guaranteed the
delivery of message to the destination. Kindly help me out this
retransmission scenario for sip MESSAGE method.

Regards,
-Lakshmi
