Hi Vivek,

Outbound proxy is only used while making an outgoing call.
In case of incoming call, the responses are sent on via and after call is
established, the SIP messages should be send to SIP contact or record-route.

Thanks,
Alok

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Query regarding implementation of Outbound during
Incoming Call

Hi Folks,

Most of the User Agents support configurable option for Outbound Proxy
Address. When this address is set in the User Agent, all the SIP messages
are sent to Outbound Address only at the time of making an Outgoing Call. I
think that is perfectly OK.

But when UA receives Incoming Call, should UA honor SIP Contact or
Record-Route (or any other header if applicable) to send further SIP
messages to remote peer? OR SIP messages should be send to Outbound Proxy
only which is set in UA configuration?

Precisely my question is, Outbound Address should only be used while making
an OG call or should be used during both Outgoing and Incoming Call?

Thanks and Kind Regards,

Vivek Batra
