Hi, an outbound proxy receives an initial request with RURI domain "invalid-domain.net" (no explicit port neither ;transport param in the RURI). The proxy then performs all the steps in RFC 3263 section 4. Let's suppose the following two cases: a) The domain "invalid-domain.net" doesn't exist. b) The domain "invalid-domain.net" exists but has no NAPTR, SRV, A neither AAAA record. Which should be the response code of the proxy in a) and b) cases? I don't expect 404 si a good choice as just the proxy responsible of the target domain should reply it. So maybe 503 is better (always 503....). Any other suggestion? any specification defining it? _______________________________________________ 5xx should be used when the server is having a failure, not when the problem is intrinsic to the request. 404 is actually a fairly good choice, as it means that there is no destination for this address.
