Hi Keerthi,

The Max-Forwards header field is used with any SIP method to limit the number
of proxies or gateways that can forward the request
to the next downstream server. Since Registrar/Presence server are acting as
end point for the SIP messages, Max-Forwards header is not mandatory.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Registrar / Presence Server receives SIP message
without Max-Forwards Header

All,

In RFC3261, Max-Forwards header is defined in Proxy sections. RFC3261 does not
describe about the Registrar / Presence receives SIP message without
Max-Forwards header.

Can anyone tell me, what Registrar / Presence Server as to do when it receives
the SIP message without Max-Forwards Header?

Thanks in Advance
