The validity of a proxy modifying a mid-dialog Request-URI basically depends
upon if able to defend it per the RFC. I did not lookup the various MUST,
SHOULD, and equality rules to see what types of mid-dialog Request-URI proxy
modifications are allowed when not done for strict/loose routing reasons.
However even if allowed, I don't recommend doing it unless there is a good
reason to do so; otherwise it can cause interoperability problems unless
obviously valid.

The vendor can likely explain (bug, configuration, ...) why they are mucking
with the Request-URI.
