The first SIP SAML draft is getting close to pub-ready, and I think we can fix RFC 4474 with a small and discrete set of changes that have already been proposed in a draft. It is very close to right, just a little bit off because of Badness in our Networks.
Or you are all going to RETIRE to Geneva to figure this out etc...
One of our dear friends has suggested to me (rather frequently) that all SIP related work should be ceded to the ITU, as it is now clearly a carrier-centric telephony protocol based on the assumption of a "smart network" and "crippled endpoints". Besides, Geneva is nice this time of year.
