I don't think getaddrinfo is the problem, rather that my system is not configured to locate the library with getaddrinfo in it. I followed http://win6.jp/Cygwin/index.html in the hope that I could get away with a beta level IPv6 support on Win2000/cygwin. My problem is that what I did didn't seem to fully work - it appears that cygwin can't locate the shared library containing getaddrinfo. Maybe what I need is a better understanding of how cygwin locates shared libraries, and fix something up in my configuration to get the IPv6 workaround to work for me.
At any rate, I've been able to locate a linux workstation here, and have installed SIPp 1.1rc8 on it, and have got pcap play to work. I will also be getting a new workstation, running XP, in the next few days. Therefore, it's doubtful that I'll have the motivation to dig into this problem as it relates to Win2000. Thanks for the info. WHat you see might be one of them, but I really don't know, thus the warning in the doc. Good to know that 1.1rc7 worked on win2k, but this is a surprise to me. Anyway, if getaddrinfo is the issue, could you come with an alternative? Olivier. This is because of IPv6 support. The Windows installer should prevent someone to install SIPp on Win2000." I've been using SIPp 1.0 and 1.1rc7 on Win2000 - is the above statement because of the newly-introduced support for pcap play in 1.1rc8? -----Original Message----- From: Brett Buckingham Sent: Monday, January 29, 2007 4:27 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: cygwin / Win2K: can't find getaddrinfo I'm trying to use the pcap play feature of SIPp on Windows. I've installed SIPp 1.1rc8 under Windows 2000 by compiling the source under cygwin. I couldn't use the .exe installer because it wants a newer version of Windows. I followed the instructions for compiling under cygwin at http://sipp.sourceforge.net/doc/reference.html#Installing+SIPp including the installation of the IPv6 extension. I compiled SIPp using: make pcapplay_cygwin So far so good. When I run SIPp, I get the following error: ./sipp 127.0.0.1:5060 -sn uac -p 5061 Warning: open file limit > FD_SETSIZE; limiting max. # of open files to FD_SETSIZE = 64 Resolving remote host '127.0.0.1'... 43 [main] sipp 580 f:\Temp\Download\sipp-1.1rc8.src\sipp.exe: *** fatal error - couldn't dynamically determine load address for 'getaddrinfo' (handle 0x75030000), Win32 error 127 I guess cygwin can't locate the library containing the getaddrinfo function. This question was asked before http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00461.ht ml but there was no reply. Any insight would be most appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
