Thanks! I was sceptical that FD_SETSIZE has anything to do with it (that controls the maximum number of files that can be polled by select() - but we don't poll media sockets, just write to them). But now I see there's some code in sipp.cpp which sets the maximum number of open files (i.e. the rlimit) to FD_SETSIZE, which affects even sockets we're not polling - and -skip_rlimit skips that code, which is why it works for you now. I think that's just the wrong thing to do, and will probably remove that code entirely.
