I'm supportive of your recommendation to de-clutter the codec options and the rationale on the sipx-users list.

I proposed doing this for the 6000/7000/VVX on the sipx-users list (http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/msg17091.html), and no objections so far. But even the 670 has to many options. Besides the four defaults there are: three G.722.1s, three G.722.1Cs, five Lin.16s, and six Siren.14s. We may even soon add two new iLBC codecs (XX-6596.) Should I open a JIRA to clean this up? It would take some further investigation to decide which codecs could be removed. Note that there would be an upgrade complication. We'd need to detect and handle phones that have deprecated codec selections. (Probably they could just be reset to the default codec selections.) -Paul [email protected] _______________________________________________ sipx-dev mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-dev Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-dev sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/
