Bob Very interesting idea. The more links we find between telephony and IM the better. I would like to suggest that as a first step we should find a way to display a user's "on the phone" presence without requiring that the user has his/her IM client running. This current limitation somehow seems to affect most services that link telephony with IM. In particular it makes it impossible to use IM presence by the receptionist to reliably see line state. IM enabling Page and Park could be interesting. I think my preference would be to start with Park. The reason being that the paging service is a well known key system feature and as long as we cannot do speech-to-text to enable distribution of a page by IM, the linkage might not make as much sense. I do however like the idea of pre-defined IM broadcast groups, independent or in addition to page groups. For the Park service we could enable a receptionist to monitor park orbit status over IM. Or you could send the park orbit IM commands to e.g. retrieve a call. Improving receptionist functionality with IM would be great. --martin _______________________________________________ sipx-dev mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-dev Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-dev sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/
