The XMPP server does not communicate group information to the clients,
it only communicates 'contacts with a group attribute'.  Given that the
server has no contact to send to your client (it is the only member of
the group and there is no point in having a contact to yourself), the
client will not come to know the existence of the group.

Thank you for checking but I believe that the current behavior is
correct.
