We have been able to boot and install SCS using a USB drive for some time. The only issue that I have run into is that on some systems equipped with both front and rear USB ports, the drive must be connected to a rear one. Due to either a hardware or BIOS limitation, the front USB ports are only usable for keyboards and mice.
