The current parser does - I seem to recall that was one of the things
that was fixed when we rewrote it a couple of years ago - several of the
allowed special characters caused problems before that.

I don't think that there's any chance at all that the userpart syntax
from 3261 will be changed to eliminate any of the allowed characters -
it would be a backwards-compatibility nightmare.  Unless there's some
other reason to change this, I'd revert to using '/'.
