Some applications/comments and even thoughts:

1) An administrator would want to record calls based
   a) time of day criteria and/or
   b) all calls to from a set of users and/or
   c) all calls from/to a set of (external) telephone numbers and/or
   d) randomly for a set of users (for call center environments)
   e) other filters yet to be imagined

2) User may want to record a call in progress (BCM supports this).
User starts/stops recording via web portal or Personal Assistant or
some other means (REST API would be good here). This would mean EVERY
candidate call would need to got throug a B2BUA and that may be ok
for
small installations. Would make this configurable of course.

This is good for bomb threat scenarios and the like.

Once a B2BUA is in place we can do other wonderful things

   a) seamless call handoff between cell phone and home phone or work
phone (BCM
supports this for some call scenarios but not all).

   b) third party call control via DTMF, Personal Assistant or web
portal

   c) such a B2BUA could then be a Personal Assistant voice front end:
"John is in a meeting until 3pm", to let him know you called,
press 1
(sends an IM to John with the call details), to be informed when
John is available, press 2 (send IM to caller when John is
available,
only works if we know the IM id for the caller) etc.

I can dream.
