Hello,
This is an FYI for sipviewer users. I've added support to show time index data
in sipviewer (changes have been committed). Please try it out when you get a
chance.
Any questions? Issues? Let me know.
Tom
An overview:
- Time index column has been added to the left side of the window. It supports
several time display modes available through a pop-up menu as well as the
options menu.
- Time index column can be set to hidden if user does not want it (Options
menu).
- Local time zone (set on the computer where sipviewer is running) is used to
interpret "date and time" and "time of day" time display formats. Can also be
changed to UTC.
- Pop-up menu can be used to "Set Key Index" to mark a key message, so it can
be easily found. Default key index is the very first message.
- Split screen mode will show time index column on both screens.
- Setting background colors to dialogs also sets time indexes.
- Horizontal alternating lines have been added to aid in readability.
- Hovering over messages highlights the respective time index and vice versa.
- Saving the log file will also save time index specific annotations.
- Please see note below if saving file where key index is invisible and "Omit
Invisible Dialogs" are selected.
For more detail here is the JIRA description:
XX-7413 show timing in sipviewer display
Following changes have been made:
- new column was added on the left side that shows time index values for
each message in the dialog
- this works in both single and split screen modes
- moving on the messages in the right hand scroll window highlight the
appropriate time index value
- moving over the time index values highlights the appropriate dialog
message
- changing background colors of dialogs also changes the backgrounds
of the corresponding time index values
- removing dialogs removes corresponding time index values in the time
index column
- top of the column reflects the GMT offset when "Date and Time" and
"Time of Day (Default)" are used
- the new column has its own pop-up menu with following entries:
"Date and Time", "Time of Day (Default)", "Since Previous Captured Message",
"Since Beginning of Capture", "Since Key Index" and "Set Key Index"
- selecting each of these changes the time index values
- the options menu has been expanded with following entries:
"Time Zone Setting" submenu with two time zone settings, "Time Display
Toggle (Show/Hide), and "Time Display Format" submenu with radio button
selections mirroring pop-up menu entries
- making changes to the time index display is preserved in saved log files
New Features Explained
In the Options menu user has the option of selecting "Time Zone Setting"
submenu. SipViewer probes the system and determined the local time zone
that is set in the computers operating system. This is the default time
zone that is selected. User has the option to select the UTC time zone.
This settings is valid when user selects the "Date and Time" or "Time
of Day (Default)" time display formats. By default the time will be shown
using users computer time zone, but by selecting UTC it will be translated
to UTC values.
Note: The header at the top of the time index column will change to show
the GMT offset in case user makes a screenshot.
Another new item in the Options menu is "Time Display Toggle (Show/Hide)".
This allows the user to make the time index columns invisible/visible.
Default setting is visible. This setting effects both top and bottom
screens when working in the split screen mode.
Pop-up menu and Options menu "Time Display Format" are two ways of accessing
the same functionality. In the "Time Display Format" submenu the ratio button
shows currently selected time display format, this is updated even when
time display format is selected from the pop-up menu. The time formats are
as follows:
Date and Time - shows date and time of when the message was captured
Time of Day (Default) - shows only the time of when the message was captured
Since Previous Captured Message - shows a time delta between each pocket
Since Beginning of Capture - shows a cumulative time from the very first (top)
time index
Since Key Index - shows a cumulative time from the key index
that user sets, all values previous to the key index are negative and all
values after are positive with the key index being 0.000000
Set Key Index - sets the currently selected message as the key message
Note: The Set Key Index sets the current message as the key index.
In all the modes this sets the time index in yellow color and time value
is incased in >>value<<. By default the key index is the top time value.
When Since Key Index time display format is selected the key index serves
as the index from which time values are calculated. Previous values are
negative and values going forward are positive.
Note1: When user sets a key index they still have the capability to work
with dialogs and make some of them invisible. If the dialog that houses the
key index is made invisible the key time index will be invisible. If the
Since Key Index is selected they time values will still be calculated
based on the hidden key index. User can reset the key index once again
if they want time values to be calculated with visible dialogs only.
Further, if they choose to save their annotation progress the changes and
time values will be preserved with one exception. If they select the "Omit
Invisible Dialogs" option then SipViwer will inform them that they will
loose their time index values in this particular situation. Here is the
message:
"The Time Display Format is set to "Since Key Index". You assigned the Key
Index to a dialog that is no longer visible. If you choose to Omit Invisible
Dialogs then your current time index values will not be reproducible from
the saved log file and the Key Index position will be reset to 0."
If the Time Display Format is not Since Key Index following will message
will be shown:
"You assigned the Key Index to a dialog that is no longer visible. If you
choose
to Omit Invisible Dialogs then the Key Index position will be reset to 0."
