Subject: Re: [sipX-dev] IMAP sync with Groupwise

I'll probably end up creating a whole new mail system on the sipX server
but I need to know how to pull PIN number information out and use it for
authentication for the IMAP client. the pintoken attribute is not a
standard MD5 hash.

Also, How does one access the RSS feed for voicemail? I haven't seen any
docs for it.

That was one of my workarounds too.

I originally suggested we use the sipx box as an imap server and email
(for sipx only) and let it create the email account (like the IM
account) with each user account creation, and just let the IMAP client
handle it. Only problem is reading the sipx inbox as an xml is a
custom job.

At the same time, 4.1.7 has an RSS feed for voicemail, and newer
GroupWise clients have RSS feed sync capability. "IF" the feed can be
configured to display the voicemail message as an article, it can be
deleted, and then that would also cause the sync to occur, I think.

Upon further searching it appears that header search is not supported:

    Partial compliance.

The GroupWise IMAP agents do not support HEADER searching or
non-system flag KEYWORD or UNKEYWORD searching. Also, searching
with SMALLER and LARGER uses an approximated size.

One example of an agent response follows:

       C: A005 SEARCH 1:* OR ANSWERED FLAGGED
       S: * SEARCH 4 8 10 13 17 19
       S: A005 OK SEARCH completed

    "

Looks like I'll be implementing a different IMAP system for
voicemail and add it to the groupwise client. Probably better that
way as I won't have to change the password every time the
    Groupwise password changes.

Also, GroupWise IMAP only supports plaintext authentication. I'm
not sure if this causes a problem with sipX. Here is the full
    documentation for IMAP on GroupWise:

it needs to support SEARCHES in HEADERS I think.

GroupWise used to have an API gateway to sync email (netware,
prelinux). We used to use it with a 3rd party voicemail system
back in the late 80's and early 90's. The voicemail system would
integrate with several hundred switch types (even the itty bitty
norstar). Did an awesome job and synced flawlessly, but I don;t
know what kind of gateway they might have now to make this type
of scenario work, with the exception of IMAP.

I shut down my groupwise 8 server a few months ago (migrated the
email to google apps), but can always resurrect it to see if it
    would integrate.

I know of some workarounds too, but they might be clunky.

I just found out that GroupWise IMAP doesn't support IDLE. I
        guess this
makes it unusable with IMAP sync for email?
