If this is true, then this is a major issue for implementations that have
synchronized with LDAP directories such as MS Active Directory where SCS
user IDs are being generated and pushed down to the SCS. User IDs in those
systems almost always contain alpha characters.

That means that Directed Call Pickup will not work in their environment.

(Me thinks that is what he is saying)

Can you please expand on this? Are you saying that dialing *78<alias> will
not work? What if you are using alpha userIDs such as ddeutschman who is
assigned an alias of 301. Are you saying that dialing *78301 would not
work?

I am testing 4.21 from svn version 18900 that I just built under CentOS 5.

I can no longer do a call pickup by dialing the alias of an extension.

Is this an expected behavior?

Yes -- There was a change to ensure that call pickup attempts did not
forward from the specified extension to any user-forwards specified for that
extension. Unfortunately, user-forwards and alias translations are not
distinguishable at run-time, so a call pickup attempt directed to an alias
no longer work either.

Ideally, we could tag "aliases" with their real nature and adjust which
translations are suppressed in which situations.
